About

It all began about 6 years ago with the simple question from my kids of “what are we ?”.  Although my siblings and I always grew up with the notion that mom’s side was Irish and Dad’s German, a few quick phone calls to family members quickly proved that notion false.  With the exception of a few family branches, no one could recall more than a couple of generations back.  So my sister challenged me to find the answers.

It’s now 6 years later, my sister has unfortunately passed away, I have a family tree that numbers in the 10’s of thousands, and I still haven’t completely figured out “who we are”.  Some of the family roots have been in the US a lot longer than anyone would have guessed.  Maybe I’ll be able to answer the question someday, but the search has given me an appreciation of the journey of my ancestors.  This blog is meant to illustrate my investigation of my family history and share the stories and people I’ve uncovered.

Whether you’re a relative or not…stop by and look around.  This site contains a record of all the information and materials I’ve collected throughout the years.
